While we bill ourselves as a "rock'n'roll party band", we are more versatile than that, covering a range of musical styles and genres suitable for lots of different types of functions and venues - a cover band that spans the decades from the 1950s right up into the 2000s - and we can play all those great cover songs at any volume the client desires - whisper-soft for background/mood music, or full-blast for the dancefloor.

Nope, not if you don't want us to be. We are proud of our ability, as professional level musicians, to provide live musical entertainment at any volume level the client wants, from whisper-soft background music, to soft rock/MOR social dance music, to full-on rock-the-dancefloor volume. Being a 3-piece band with a tight setup and excellent equipment helps ensure we deliver live music at the volume you want.
The Pepper Shakers love to play for audiences of all ages and sizes. Seniors events and mature audiences / gatherings are a specialty and a pleasure! We have done literally hundreds of them - to seniors residences, long term care facilities, Legion branches, social clubs, nursing homes. We can light up a room and the smiles on peoples' faces with our wide range of lively classics, standards, singalongs, social dance standards, slow dance ballads, etc. We would love to play for your mature crowd, or seniors' event!
We try to work with the budget of the client. As a rough guide, a starting figure would be $500-$550 for a 1-2 hour performance in a smaller setting, in the Toronto area.
Larger events, longer playing time, the amount of extra equipment required, and the distance to the venue (travel) all factor into a price. Contact us with the specifics of your event - we'll shoot you back a lightning fast response and quote.
The Pepper Shakers are a 3-piece band consisting of guitar, bass, and drums, with harmonized vocals. We seldom augment this format, because quite honestly, we are at our best as a trio - 1000+ paid gigs seems to have confirmed this!
We generally play the Greater Toronto Area, which includes regularly performing from Hamilton to the west, Oshawa to the east and up to Barrie in the north. Additional travel general incurs additional cost. We have done appearances further afield.
Yes, when you hire the Pepper Shakers, we supply all the equipment for the event - instruments, amplifiers, PA system, microphone, and lights.
Alternatively, we are more than happy to work with your sound or stage technicians and perform through their equipment.
Our gear is 100% top quality throughout and capable of handling any volume, from very soft background/dinner music, to full dance-floor level.
Absolutely.
We are totally flexible with respect to performance times. We can play sets of any length, take breaks of any length at the client's direction.
Typical 4-hour functions such as dances or banquets include 3 x 1-hour sets, with 20 minute breaks between, but again, it is entirely at the client's discretion.
Minimum performance time can be as short as 15-30 minutes; we've also done functions such as weddings which have required our presence for 6 hours and more..
